[WORKSHOP!]
Letting Go of Cravings:
Learning to Love the Mongoose Within

Cravings are tricky.

We can spend so much of our life-energy compulsively pursuing substances/behaviours that don’t fulfil us, yet we find we cannot turn away.

It turns out, there are very good reasons for why this is the case! And when you understand these reasons, we can start to address them directly.

This two-hour workshop is designed to help
you get to the root of the issue of cravings.

It will give you actionable principles and techniques to change your relationship to craving over time with a minimum of masochistic self-flagellation and shamey self-control. Hurrah.

The workshop will help you to:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of what is happening when you crave

  • Understand what does not work (which a lot of people try to use)

  • Learn principles, techniques and inquiries that do work

  • Free yourself from craving over the long run without shame/self-control

The workshop is built around the ridiculous, but helpful, pedagogical metaphor of the mongoose, which represents the core drivers of craving within us.

Ultimately, our goal is to free ourselves from our cravings by learning to love the mongoose within.

That’s what this workshop will help you to do!

The two-hour workshop will cover the following key topics, which are supported by exercises and inquiries:

  • Theory

    • What is a craving?

    • Why do cravings arise?

    • Step-by-step exploration of the process of craving

  • Practice

    • Approaches that do NOT work

    • Approaches that DO work

      • My soon-to-be-trademarked
        Way of the Mongoose

    • How to work with cravings day-to-day

    • Working with shame/self-control

    • Interim coping strategies

    • Top tips and common pitfalls

“Being facilitated by Ben is like going on an unpredictable adventure with a good friend alongside you. His style of inquiry is direct, powerful, creative and even fun. All hail the Drunken Buddha!”

Facilitator of the Kiloby Inquiries

“I’ve met many spiritual teachers, seekers and therapists in my life. Broadly speaking, they fall in to two categories: those who do because they know and those who know because they do. Ben falls firmly into the latter category, living and breathing an uncommonly radical approach to finally getting to the truth of things. I consider him a most trustworthy ally on the path to healing and am honoured to call him a friend.”

A little bit about me

I’m Ben, I live just outside London. I’m a Certified Living Inquiries (LI), Kiloby Inquiries (KI) and Embodied Processing (EP) Facilitator.

I came to this work through addiction to alcohol. Even after quitting drinking I found my addictions just turned to other substances/behaviours.

So I’ve spent a lot of time wrestling with the issue of craving and feel like I’m finally beginning to crack this particular nut!

This workshop is based on my own experience of working with cravings over time and the trial and error of figuring out what works and what doesn’t. It’s also inspired by and indebted to both LI, KI and EP.
